Dear Applied Geographers,

It is with pleasure I invite you to participate in the 31st annual meeting of the Applied Geography Conferences. Last year, we had a spectacular meeting in Indianapolis, where some 200 attendees participated in sessions on applied climatology, hazards, medical geography, and retail geography, among others. Feedback from attendees suggests that this conference was both thought-provoking and academically stimulating, as old friends and new colleagues met to debate practical applications from various geographical perspectives. Drs. Montz and Tobin set the tone in their opening address presenting their views on applied geography and how the conference and publication have evolved over the years. Dr. John Oliver provided a most engaging presentation on the expanding role of climatology in applied geography at the lunch session that brought new ideas to the fore. However, it is through the participation of scholars from around the globe that this conference gains its strength.

So, please join us in Wilmington, Delaware for the 2008 conference, October 15-18, 2008 at the Doubletree Wilmington Downtown Hotel. Details will continue to be posted on this website as they come available.

As always, if you have any questions, please let us know. You can contact me by e-mail by clicking on my name below.
